Things We Love: Of Corset!

Despite being despised by women throughout the centuries for the uncomfortableness (which, apparently, is a word), I, personally am obsessed with corsets! I purchased my first one (bottom, middle) because I loved Tim Burton's version of Sweeney Todd when it came out, and when I saw this, it seemed so positively Mrs Lovett-esque! I would always wear it as a top with nothing else, and I remember my dad once saying "Isn't that supposed to go...under your clothes?"

My second corset purchase (top, left) was for a Halloween costume back in 2010, when I was Olive Penderghast (with my dear friend Shannon, below) from the film Easy A, starring one of my favourite ladies, Emma Stone.

Ever since then, I've been collecting them and wearing them as often as I can! I simply adore the beautiful feminine silhouette it provides and (of course) the vintage look. But hey, if you consider yourself a bit more modest than I am, corsets also make great underwear and allow for perfect posture! Another option as a replacement would be a bralet, which is actually made to be worn as a top, for those of you who aren't strange like me!

Now, you might be asking yourself, "Where do I even get a corset?" I've found mine all over, whether they were passed down from my mother, vintage racks, or other retailers. But to make it a bit easier for you, I've provided a range of cute options below that  are in a reasonable price range, so click on the one you like to shop online!

Corsets have been around since the dawn of time (literally, the earliest known corset being from 2,000 BC!) and are still fashionable today! I suspect they will also continue to be in the future (and even if not, I will always wear them!). But please, dear readers, keep in mind the risk of injury from a corset that's too tight! You want to be beautiful, but also comfortable!

Have fun!
